The Absence

H.L. In 2016 these guys hit me hard with the "In Pieces" album and they did it again now as "The Absence" has a similar strength and dynamic. The songs are touching without being pathetic, they present modern positive extreme metal on highest level without being bound to genre borders. It's powerful, melodic and catchy and many songs are really touching. Sometimes OAK PANTHEON cross the border of standardized black metal and go their own way. Check the epic, well arranged "Silence we plead"! Favorite track: Silence We Plead.

Доберман Сатз What an album!!! Reminds me of tool but heavier and not boring at all. Instant cd purchase!
iamtherevenant

iamtherevenant One of the most creative, diverse and emotional albums I've heard in ages. Reminds me of bands like Thrawsunblat and Agalloch while absolutely setting their own course. A must listen for fans of folk metal! Favorite track: Old Yarn.

1.
Nowhere, I've become Nowhere, I'm becoming The absence of meaning is meaning Ego permeates the air A thick cloud of self-deceit Lies to the world become lies to ourselves The malignancy consuming our souls Nowhere, I've become I am becoming none The absence of meaning is meaning

Listen! 06:23
Still Silent Processing Silent Down Fall in line Shutting down Every word that we say Writhing mass dying to climb The phantom walls of this crooked Hierarchy Now Settle down Calm your voice You’re acting irrationally Desperation begets violent response To ease this anxiety It’s gone too far We’ve had enough We’ve had enough Just listen No Down Still Silent Processing Silent
3.
Dissociate 03:40
Countless voices shout in unison they condemn Past mistakes circle like vultures in my mind Where candor meets fiction Materiality, morality, sanity ebbs away Far beneath their laurels reeks a stench The rest of us are rotting I won't be the lamb I won't be the wolf I won't be the shepherd I'll be the ground below Fools delight at the mere sight of the guillotine Unaware they're next on the chopping block Word of God changes every single day New preacher worse than the last The ethics loop eternally So painfully sanctimonious and erroneous I won't be the lamb I won't be the wolf I won't be the shepherd I'll be the sky above Watching it all fall down
4.
Alone and tired But I’m wide awake Your room is empty And grey And the blood returns to beating heart And the ash blows away And I wish that you were coming home To stay
5.
Hell is not far away Time’s toll rings loud The weak will rise The ill will rise The fools will rise The dead will rise Hear, hear the sound of crushing chaos Your empire awaits let no evil betide you The enemies are far away and most of them have perished The day is seized and peace restored So you can rest on your throne of ash On your throne of ash Endeavors of the devil, or God’s wanton ‘bandon? Ideals warped disarray, the price colossal dread A pawn across the board, and now you’ve lost the game The final curtains down, and now the blameless fall Drifting Aimless and disheveled Attempting to conjure hope Leaving chaos in the wake The power you held To make things right And now you’re too weak? What a shame… The weak will rise The ill will rise The fools will rise The dead will rise
6.
Decisions 03:15
I see it coming A freight train closing in Locked in this battle Afraid I cannot win Just have this feeling That I can’t kick Best just to stay home And say I’m sick It’s not a question Of if, but when All of the decisions that we make Anxiety says it’s a mistake This facade I can no longer fake All my primal instincts overtake What if… Better take a step back You always say you can’t be too careful Isolate and disengage Digging deeper down into your hole Always fearing the worst Mental games begin to take their toll Then eventually you snap And you find yourself losing control
7.
I’m tired Lay down this weary frame Vain patterns repeat and repeat Stone heart no longer aches One last mystery to me Beyond the static hum Sweet earth to quiet the noise This hallowed resting place I don’t long for this world I won’t long for this world I’m not long for this world Here I fall There’s nothing to be said Silence we plead
8.
Old Yarn 06:09
And now I’ll never question what Becomes of us when the landscape meets the sea Barren waste and the well is dry Feign surprise at the things we could foresee Sunken city Washed away Stuck adrift with no ground beneath our feet Scorched earth Desert vast Choke on dust and nothing left to eat We left our world for dead and it seems our will is done Now Death removes its cowl Mouth twists in a faceless scowl Taunts God with a piercing howl Dark shadow on the sun Long of horn and sharp of tongue The Solar Age has begun Fire Storms Famine Pestilence Swarms Bloodshed War God’s reckoning

about

"...there’s a lot to unpack here, and the way everything works together is a fascinating thrill to experience." -NO CLEAN SINGING

"This is the most complex we've heard Oak Pantheon, the band pushing their already impressive boundaries to new places, experimenting with the structure of their track and their compositional underpinnings." -Heavy Blog is Heavy

"The Absence is easily an early contender for album of the year. It’s that good. A gaudy blend of styles that come together to create something truly outstanding." -Games, Brains, & Head-Banging Life
